Dan is a caring individual who always tries to help out patients in need. On the flip side, his wait times can be long, perhaps due to squeezing in last-minute patients at times. David DeCamillis is simply an amazing Doctor, he's compasionate, knowledgeable, caring, efficient and great at what he does!!!! He does try to fix the problem in a visit or two and has helped me through many, many little accidents over the years, even a serious compression fracture! This practioner was beyond bad. I am a very fit cyclist, but developed thoracic pain from an intense tennis session. This chiro kept trying to snap the spine with repeated visits, his only suggestion was come more often. The pain rose exponentially. Sure he talks to you like you're a pro athlete, but I dedicated half a summer on optimum recovery. Eventually, a visit to an ortho physio, who sent me for a one-time visit to a neurologist, who both simply said I'd put out a rib from double-handed backhand swings. Very friendly. I recommend him highly. I have lower back problems and I found when I went to a medical doctor all they wanted to do is throw drugs at the problem. After a couple visits with him, I found that the problem just went away. When I have had a more persistant problem, he used other therapies to help get me back to normal. I don't know how he does it, but what he does really works! I had never been to a chiropracter before, as I was afraid, they'd do more damage than good. Dr. Kvalheim's technique is so gentle damage isn't possible. And more importantly it works. I had had chronic pain in my hip for over a year. My first session cured this and it has never recurred. I have subsequently gone to him for lower back pain and although the cure wasn't as dramatically fast it has never taken more than a few sessions. Doc Thiessen is in a great clinic with Gord Partridge who I would rate at the top end of chiropractors that I have ever been treated by. In addition to getting to know your needs I found that Spectrum Clinic is relaxing because the doctors are not in a hurry to get you in and out. Before adjustments, they make sure that the proper muscles are loosened up and then a more effective course of treatment follows that. These guys go for it if you can relax properly but they won't force it on you if you are not ready. In particular, a course of treatment that I went for post surgery on my left shoulder revealed the depth of knowledge that Doc Theissen has. DR. Rick Rocks! I have scoliosis which comes with many problems that there are no cures for. Rick has kept me not only mobile for all these years but helps me with pain control so I don't need any drugs. With out him I would have been disabled by now and in horrible pain. Dr. Fox was the second chiropractor I ever visited and I liked his style of chiropractic much more than my first Doctor's (who I believe was a Palmer graduate). The other guy had a routine that no matter what was wrong with you he always did the same adjustments. Dr. Fox instead only did adjustments where necessary, and used a message device to help ease adjustments. He also emphasized a streching routine for my lower back problems which have helped me immensley. Always polite, professional and very knowledgeable, I have and will continue to recommend him hands down. I almost wish I still lived in Calagary so I could go see him when I needed to. I hesitated after reading the previous comment but Dr. Sam turned out to be great, just as everyone else said. The office is indeed spartan and it is true that Dr. Sam has no receptionist, but I think that is adequately reflected in the fees. Here's the deal: I had a sore back. I went in and he fixed it in the first session. He told me to come back for one more session and then told me I was done. I feel fine now. That's what I was looking for and that's what I got. Glen was very Knowledgable and extremely helpful. I have had a number of nagging injuries over the years that were getting worse as I got older and older. It's never a problem to drop in for a surprise visit. Lynda at the front desk is super-friendly and helpful. I've been to many chiropractors and Dr. Fay is one of the best I've been to. He knows his stuff! I've been to several doctors - including a sports therapist - for reoccuring pain in my knee, which had gotten so bad that I couldn't run for literally 2 minutes without having to deal with days of pain afterward, even with a knee brace and anti-inflammatories. I threw it out there to Dr. Fay as more of a curiosity, and to my surprise he checked it out, found out where the problem actually lay (in my hip). He gave me a simple stretch to do regularly, and now I'm jogging every day with absolutely no pain! That kind of knowledge and genuine interest is tough to find. The worst experience of my life. I don't know who all these people are who ALL rate him 5 out of 5 but it is pretty suspicious. Office on commercial drive that you could kindly describe as "spartan"", no receptionist, which means he is running out to answer the telephone while treating you. Three times in a fifteen minute session was nothing unusual. He also moonlights as a carpenter and takes calls for that as well. I went in complaining of stiffness in neck and now, after seven treatments, it is worse than ever. Blinding headaches for which he tells me to eat fruit as the headaches mean my blood sugar is low. I ask him if he is bothered at all by the fact that the pain radiates from the connection of the spine to the skull (right where he is working) and he says no, not at all. Most of the times I didn't have to tell him where my pain was - he'd do a very logical set of tests and then touch exactly where all the pain was. I've gone in within cluster headaches and in one quick adjustments was pain free. He even took the time to correct some wrist issues I was having - every other chiropracter I've been to ignores the issue and offers no fix (no matter how good they may be at correcting neck back hip shoulder issues) Gerald can be very matter-of-fact and quick to offer his opinion ... but its a quality I like and I value his opinion. I went to Dr Webb when I first moved to Edmonton. I went to him because he went to Life Chiropractic West. When I went, his office was filled with chiropractic support ads. A television constantly scrolled the messages... then they sat you in a room to watch TV. I felt like I was trying to be brainwashed.. I already knew chiropractic for its benefits .. in my mind - if a doctor goes through such lengths, its a sign HE doesn't believe it. He is a very strong proponent of Torque Release .. and he was big into the whole homeopathic way of thinking. He seemed very knowledgeable during the sessions but I felt like he was trying to sell me something. "Train the body to adjust itself" was a mantra often repeated. In the end, I did 10 of the 12 treatments .. and stopped seeing him because I was in pain and wasn't seeing any relief at all. DR. Akhavan's office is more than an office; it is much like a community where the care givers really care about their patients. This attitude permeates outwardly to the patients. I would highly recommend their spinal decompression therapy to anyone with a similar problem because it works; it is highly effective, non-invasive for treating slipped disc and sciatica. Improved mobility and reduced pain have been my most important improvements; this has re-established my independence: I can cook, dress, shop all by myself. I tried everything but surgery and Spinal Decompression was the only therapy that worked. Life was not fun. After the first 2 weeks of therapy, I was able to give up the drugs. He is cheerful and has a wonderful sense of humour. He is happily married and has two children and he is veru proud of both of them. He is professional, but he cares and it is not difficult to see that he has a lot of empathy and sympathy for people. I go every three weeks for treatment, and Dr. Surko keeps me standing up straight. I have deteriorating disks in my back and neck as well as arthritis. I am almost 74 years old and in good health. My dad was a chiropractor for 40 years and had 4 years of medical schooling. I trust the science and the medical training. I enjoy his banter, but others might find him a bit judgmental or sarcastic at times. Cares about excellence, results, human relationships. Fast, efficient. Two treatment rooms. Books several patients for the same time slot. I wait 0-10 minutes, usually less than 5, to go into treatment room, another 2-5 minutes till he comes in. I have great difficulty believeing any of the negative comments made on this page, and they are in strark contrast to the positive ones. What I DO know for sure is that I was in excruciating pain from an uncooperative lumbar, and after the first, very inexpensive visit, I was feeling much bettr and could walk. In contrast to my previous perception of the stereotype of chiropracters working in a torture chamber with screaming patients, Dr Beaton was very gentle. He had me come back for another adjustment visit a few days later, and I was in bliss from lack of pain. He gave me a list of exercises to do everyday to strengthen the back and improve posture. After one more checkup a week later to make sure all was staying in proper position, I asked if i needed any more visits, and he said, "No, only if you want to come visit when I'm not busy." Dr. Dan worked on me for just over a year after i got myself into trouble with hockey injuries. He worked in the Hamilton Bulldogs team for a while in Hamilton. His methods are the least painful i have ever found. He uses a type of tool rather than manipulating your spinal cord to make adjustments. The result is amazing and no pain whatsoever. He spends after office hours teaching stretching and maintenance techniques with his patients and i wish i were still in Hamilton to go see Dr. Dan. His care has prevented us from surgery on 3 different occasions, twice from c-section due to breach birth, he performed the Webster Turning Technique on two different pregnancies, and prevented my son from having tubes put in his ears. My son has not been on antibiotics since being under his care, and my 5 & 7 year old have never been on antibiotics as they have been seeing him since birth. I feel that I have wasted my money by going to what I thought was a chiropractic office. The method used is presented in language as if it is chiropractic, but it is closer to yoga or hinduism than it is to addressing the physical problems of a patient. For example, instead of saying chakras, they use the word gateway. It is clear to me now that the method is not fully explained to the patient as a method that uses the principles of Hinduism.
